From “part-storytime, part-awkward lap dance, part hypnotism, part-requiem,” all three solos reveal their earnest take on life. This is “what it feels like to be alive right now.” An unpolished lullaby, a gentle roll, I am warmed by the sense of camaraderie Meaden, Dixon, and McBride create. Blowin’ Up

Presented at The Substation as part of the 2016 Melbourne Fringe Festival, the work consisted of three interconnected but independently conceived solos.

Three contemporary dances that are a bit like performance, and contemporary performances that are a bit like dance, three strange takes on what it feels like to be alive. 

Alice’s work, titled The Bush Capital is a surreal, shape-shifting journey in which the protagonist is caught between returning to nature and asserting control over it. The choreography involved literal physical obstacles, including a seesaw and hurdles, transforming familiar ideas about struggle, ambition and overcoming adversity into absurd physical action
