Alice Dixon is a dancer, performer and choreographer working across contemporary dance, theatre and experimental performance. She has extensive performance credits with leading Australian companies and major international presentations, alongside significant experience as an educator, mentor and contributor to the dance sector.

Her choreographic practice has been supported through national and international residencies, commissions and major arts funding bodies. She has been commissioned to create works for platforms including Escalator (Stephanie Lake Company), Pieces for Small Spaces (Lucy Guerin Inc.), ASTRA Chamber Music and Dancehouse’s curated seasons program.

Alice has worked with leading companies and artists including Lucy Guerin Inc., Chunky Move / Antony Hamilton, Opera Australia, Mish Grigor, Matthias Schack-Arnott, Reckless Sleepers (UK), Natalie Cursio, APHIDS, Rob McCredie Deanne Butterworth, Samara Hersch, Philip Adams / BalletLab, Victoria Chiu, Mark Wilson, Caroline Meaden, Nebahat Erpolat and Monica Bill Barnes & Company (NYC). Recent performance highlights include Lucy Guerin’s retrospectives NEWRETRO (ACCA, 2023) and NEWRETRO REDUX (2024), international presentations of PENDULUM, and performing alongside Mish Grigor in Class Act at the Sydney Opera House.

Her works with collective Alice Will Caroline (2015 - 2024) have been presented at Dance Massive, Next Wave, FOLA, Dancehouse, Carriageworks, the NGV and the Keir Choreographic Award. The collective received the 2020 Green Room Award for Best Dance Duet/Ensemble and were honored to receive a Chloe Munro Fellowship in 2022. In 2024, they were Directors in Residence at Lucy Guerin Inc. and recipients of a bespoke residency at The Australian Ballet Centre.

Alice's creative practice is grounded in the body while remaining open to whatever forms a work might require. Choreography is often the starting point, but nothing is off the table: sound, text, image, objects, various modes of performance, moving image and theatrical structures can all enter the work if they become necessary to its emerging logic. Her process often begins with improvisational and somatic scores that generate highly specific physical states, images and relationships. From there, she develops rigorous choreographic material while remaining attentive to intuition, accident and the subconscious. She is interested in cinematic image-making, relational and spatial dynamics between performers, and the ways bodies transform the spaces they inhabit. She is interested in the dancer as a subject: psychologically, socially and materially present.
